This article is related to the step by step tutorial of how to install wamp on windows 7.wamp server is basically used for the development of websites on the computers. So let’s get started. For this purpose, you have to download the wamp server software that can be found on the internet quite easily. First of all open your browser and type in the address bar the following URL: www.wampserver.com/en/. From here you can easily download the wamp server software.

There you will find two options:
1:Download wamp server (32 bits)
2:Download wamp server (64 bits)
Select the download option on the basis of the processor of your operating system. If your computer has 64 bits processor than proceed with the selection of 64 bits version and vice versa.

By clicking on the download button a file opens having the ‘Save’ button at the lower left end of the page. By clicking on that button wamp server begins to download. You can save this software at any location of your choice on your hard drive. Once the downloading is complete it will appear in your downloaded files folder with an icon that will read wamp server.

Now moving towards the second step that is how to install this software on your PC while clicking on the downloaded file there will appear security warning on your screen. At the lower end of that file, there is a run button. Now run this software by clicking that ‘Run’ button.

After clicking the Run button a standard setup wizard of windows appears on the screen having the NEXT button at the end.

After selecting the NEXT button there will appear the wamp server license agreement. For installing this software first agree to this license so tick the bar with ‘I accept the agreement’ statement. And then click the NEXT button to proceed further.

The next step is to select the location where you want to save this file. It’s better to install this file on any drive other than C drive. Now after selection of the location of your choice click the NEXT button. The next page will appear on the screen having additional tasks selection options. We will be provided with two options.

  • Create a Quick Launch icon
  • Create a Desktop icon

If we are interested to locate our file on the above mentioned locations then we would select anyone of it and then click ‘NEXT’

Now the setup is ready to install. Click the INSTALL button at the end of the page to start the installation of wamp server.

After the completion of the installation of wamp server, there will appear the dialog that requires our confirmation for default browser for this software. While choosing our favorite browser that maybe chrome, Firefox or another click on the open button at the end of this page.

After the completion of this setup, it will guide to apache configuration dialog. If the firewall is active then it will ask for the access to the PHP mail parameters. Click the allow access button that will lead to the next dialog of SMTP server configuration. We are required here to give them our email id and specify our STMP server. Most recommended values are:

  • STMP: localhost
  • Email: Your email address

Now wampserver has been successfully installed in our PC along with Apache, MySQL, PHP, phpMyAdmin and SqlBuddy.

 

Click the Finish button to start wamp server along with other programs. Mark the ‘wampserver 2 now’ checkbox checked that will start the setup automatically and then click the ‘Finish’ button.

Now the wamp server setup appears as an icon on your screen. It has three states

  • Red
  • Green
  • Yellow

When the icon will appear red it means wampserver is offline and not performing any service.

The yellow icon represents that the setup has been failed to perform the services.

A green icon means that wamp server is working normally and ready to perform its normal required services.

Now in order to test this server we have to open it if the welcome screen of the wamp server appears then it has been successfully installed on our computer.
